The Coves of Hersonissos (Limanakia) are located 27km east of Heraklion, starting from Cape Sarandaris and continuing to the east till the harbour of Hersonissos. They are really beautiful beaches with calm water because Cape Sarandaris protects them from the frequent northwest winds.
The peaceful resort of Anisaras is located 21km east of Heraklion, west to the Cape Sarandaris. The area is now full with large hotels, most of which offer all-inclusive services. In front of the hotels, there are small sandy beaches with rocky seabed. All beaches are well-organized with umbrellas and sun beds, which are mainly offered for free to the customers of the hotels.

Chrissi island or Gaidouronisi is located 8 miles south of Ierapetra city, in the open South Cretan Sea. It is a flat islet very famous for its tropical blue water that cover all possible palette hues of blue and green, the protected forest with large juniper trees and the thousands of broken shells that make the sand pinkish. The residents of Ierapetra love this island and call it simply "the Island". It is said that years ago by Gianni Agnelli, the chairman of Ferrari, wanted to buy the island to make it a tourist attraction.
The main beach of the settlement is a long and narrow beach with sand and greenish water. The Turks named this beach of Agia Pelagia as Tsanak Limani, because the round shape of it reminded them of a plate (tsanak = plate). Indeed, the water is almost always calm here and the bay forms a natural quiet harbor. The beach offers many options for watersports, diving,umbrellas, food and accommodation. The beach in some places is very narrow and the sunbeds have occupied almost the entire width of the beach, leaving little room to put someone's towel.
I loved my stay in Elite Suites. The staff was really kind and helpful, I loved my breakfast and enjoyed the pool and their amazing cocktails in the bar. The room was clean and beautiful and my bed was sooo comfortable. I totally recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the original Greek hospitality. I hope I can come back soon !!
Breakfast was very good, wide selection (although can run low closer to the end as to be expected), situated in a quaint little village not far from the centre of Hersonisos so you can get the lively bustle of a city and relaxation of a village. Very spacious apartment with balcony sea view. Apartment was cleaned everyday and towels replaced. Rooftop bar was also lovely.
Perfectly situated in the centre of Koutouloufari, the apartments and rooms have been recently modernised and the programme of refurbishment will continue through the winter. The staff, especially Dimitris, are fantastic. Friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
